NCE Generation Plus - Guaranteed Issue Life Insurance ReviewThe NCE policy through LifeShield National Insurance Company is just one option available. As with all life insurance policies, it may or may not be the best option for you. Truthfully, this product did not make our list of top guaranteed acceptance policies available and we’ll be honest as to why.

No matter what, the best life insurance company is the one that works for YOU. It is always a personal decision based on individual needs, premiums, state availability, and preference. So, if you’ve been told to look into NCE and are wondering if it’s the right policy for you, read on.

The Pros of NCE Generation Plus Life Insurance

Guaranteed Acceptance

As the name implies, anyone can get approved for this plan. There are no questions whatsoever on the application aside from personal, beneficiary and payment information. For this reason, this plan is ideal for those who have been denied coverage elsewhere and do not have any other options available.

Available for ages 18 – 75

This is the ONLY guaranteed issue life insurance plan that is available to people as young as 18. The second closest plan is with Great Western, which begins insuring people at age 40. That’s 22 years difference!

One of the reasons for this is that this plan is NOT a Whole Life policy, which Great Western and all the other top no questions plans are. This is technically a term life policy available as a Renewable 5-Year Term. This means that the price will increase every 5 years as you jump through different age brackets (outlined in the cons section).

Generous Interest Return in Graded Period

The mandatory graded period with NCE is two years. This means that the full policy amount will not be paid if death occurs within the first two years. Instead, what happens is the carrier pays back the premiums plus an additional interest.

For the first year with the NCE plan, if the insured dies, the beneficiary will receive an additional 20%. If death occurs within the second year, 20% of the policy coverage will be paid.

For example: If you’re insured for $25,000 and death occurs within year 2, your beneficiary will receive $5,000. If you’re insured for $50,000, then they will receive $10,000.

Access to NCE Membership Benefits

When you enroll in the NCE Generations Plus plan, you also become a part of their National Membership Network. This network provides you with added benefits on top of your final expense insurance coverage.

For the most part, the benefits are discounts to certain health-related items, such as:

  • Vision Care
  • Dental Care
  • Prescription Discounts
  • Pet Prescriptions
  • Medical Supplies/Equipment
  • Vitamins and Supplements
  • Alternative Medicine
  • Chiropractic Care
  • Laboratory Work
  • Imaging Work
  • Access to 24/7 Health Lines

The Cons of NCE Guaranteed Life Insurance

Not a Whole Life Policy

Unlike 99% of guaranteed acceptance insurance plans available, NCE is NOT a Whole Life policy. It is a term policy with 5-Year Renewable Terms. This means that the monthly cost is “age banded”. Which leads to our second con…

Banded Policy Premiums

Age banded means that the price will increase as you age into higher “bands”.

Many people who purchase banded policies do so when they are younger and then realize that the premiums become cost prohibitive in their older years. We very rarely suggest purchasing a banded policy for this reason. There are many guaranteed acceptance products available with level premiums that are locked in from the day you make your purchase.

See below for the premium bands for NCE. Also, keep in mind that there is a $25.00 one-time enrollment fee at initial payment.

Age Bands$25,000 Death Benefit$50,000 Death Benefit
18 - 34$35 / month$38 / month
35 - 44$39 / month$47 / month
45 - 54$50 / month$69 / month
55 - 64$81 / month$131 / month
65 - 75$236 / month$442 / month

You Can Only Keep Coverage Until Age 80

Unlike the Whole Life Guaranteed Issue policies available that last for the duration of a person’s life, the NCE plan expires at age 80. It is therefore not a smart purchase for someone who is older and likely to live until age 80.

Only Two Coverage Amounts

You are very limited in what coverage you can purchase. There are only two amounts, $25,000 and $50,000. If you were to purchase with one of the top guaranteed acceptance carriers, you have the ability to customize the coverage amount you want as long as it’s within their range. NCE is very limited in this regard.

Our Recommendation on NCE Generation Plus Guaranteed Issue Life Insurance

The NCE Generations Plus plan is not ideal for anyone who will need coverage for a long period of time. The banded premium amounts make it a much more expensive purchase than a whole life guaranteed acceptance policy. The only situation in which this policy makes sense is if you are very young and very ill. At that point, it may be your only option.

Ultimately, our recommendation for anyone considering a no questions policy is to work with an independent agency. At Guaranteed Issue Life, we are able to compare rates across multiple carriers, including NCE, to find the best price and value for you.
