When shopping for life insurance, always keep in mind that the best policy is one that fits your individual needs. No matter what, there is no one-size-fits-all policy on the market, even for high-risk candidates.

Policies can and are very similar to one another, but there’s more to it than just the policy facts. This is why we include information about the carriers, their ratings, application process, customer service and more in our reviews.

So let’s dive in and learn about the Gerber Life Insurance Company’s guaranteed issue product.

Pros of Gerber Guaranteed Life Insurance

There are many advantages to choosing Gerber Life for guaranteed acceptance life insurance. Below we will list each pro and explain why it might benefit you.

Guaranteed Issue Policy

The Gerber Life Insurance Company’s Guaranteed Life Plan is guaranteed issue meaning there are no medical exam hoops to jump through, no underwriting or health questions on the application. Everyone can qualify for this product as long as you fall within the age range and enter into a legally binding contract. Since there are no health questions on the application, you are under no obligation to tell your insurance agent or the carrier anything about your current or past health standing. Even your past reports will go unchecked.

Gerber Life is a Reputable & Financially Stable Company

When it comes to the plan itself, the Gerber Life Insurance Company’s Guaranteed Life Plan is a fairly typical policy in terms of features and benefits. What really sets it apart is that it’s backed by an excellent life insurance carrier with a strong balance sheet and reputable brand name. This is a company that you can put your faith into and trust that your beneficiary will receive the necessary funds to cover your burial and final expenses.

Graded Death Benefit

This plan features a two-year graded death benefit with 10% interest if death occurs from natural causes within the period. If the insured dies due to an accidental death, the full face amount will be paid no matter when death occurs. Once the 2 years is over, there is no longer this limitation and the full face amount will be paid no matter the cause of death, including suicide.

Product Availability

Gerber Life Insurance Company’s Guaranteed Life is available for people between the ages of 50 and 80 in quantities that range from $5,000 all the way up to $25,000. With Gerber Life, you are able to take out multiple policies, but the cumulative total cannot surpass $25,000.

Competitive Premiums & Payment Options

When selecting a guaranteed acceptance policy, the cost will always be one of the key determining factors.

Generally speaking, there isn’t a huge variety of policy features across carriers, which is why it always comes down to price.

We also understand that most people qualified for a no questions policy are on a fixed income and unable to pay exorbitant monthly premiums.

Gerber Life Insurance Company is known for their competitive pricing, although they are little more expensive than other guaranteed acceptance plans. These premiums, however, are fixed and will never increase on you.

Be Aware: Unfortunately, there are some plans on the market where premiums increase every 5 years. This is definitely not the case with Gerber Life.

Payment of premiums is notably flexible with Gerber Life and there are discounts for certain methods. You can pay by direct billing, debit, credit, or ACH (preauthorized checking). As of today, when you pay by ACH, you can get a discount up to 8%. This level of savings can definitely add up over time.

Easy Application Process

One of Gerber Life Insurance Company’s strengths as a company is their streamlined, digital application process. The entire application takes place over the phone with an independent agent who is appointed with Gerber Life and licensed in your state.

The information needed is very basic and relates to the insured, the owner and the beneficiary. The policy can be electronically signed in a matter of minutes and delivered directly to your inbox.

During the application process, one of the unique features of Gerber Life is that the owner of the policy can be different from the insured. For example, an adult child can own the policy on their father, but the father is the insured.

Cons of Gerber Life’s Guaranteed Issue Life Insurance

Gerber Life is a great option for life insurance so there are very few drawbacks when choosing Gerber Life Insurance. However not every policy is perfect, and we do have one potential setback.

No Riders & Accelerated Death Benefits

Unfortunately, Gerber Life does not offer any accelerated death benefits or riders. So if you or a loved one feels strongly towards critical illness or terminal illness protection, AIG would be the stronger choice.
